Brief Biography
Jeya's interest in Chinese medicine came directly from a personal healing
experience. At the age of 11 years she had surgery to remove a benign tumor.
Complications due to the surgery required her to see numerous doctors who
tried various intervention methods, including more surgery, but none of them
were successful in relieving her pain or recuperating her sensory nerve
damage.
It wasn't until Jeya was in college that she followed a friend's
suggestion and saw an acupuncturist. Acupuncture provided significant
reduction in Jeya's pain and nerve damage and gave her a new direction in
life. After college she worked for her acupuncturist, took a class in Jin
Shin Do acupressure, and became fascinated with Chinese Medicine and it's
ability to treat the whole person.
In 1990 Jeya moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico to attend Oriental Medicine
school. Her studies included 3 months in China. She graduated in 1993 with a
Masters in Oriental Medicine and went on to receive her Oriental Medical
Doctorate in 1996. Jeya practiced in Flagstaff, Snowflake and Tucson Arizona before settling in Eugene, Oregon in 2005 where she enjoys the spectacular beauty of the area and the Eugene community.
Today Jeya's primary practice is in Eugene while she continues to work with established patients in Tucson and at Canyon Ranch Resort and Spa.
